“Dungeons & Dragons” Set Coming to “Magic: The Gathering”

“Dungeons & Dragons” and “Magic: The Gathering” are no strangers to each other. Not only are they two of Hasbro’s most-prolific franchises, but they both present fantastical worlds brimming with interesting characters. It only makes sense that the two worlds would collide at some point. However, up until know we have only ever seen Magic characters and settings come to the world of D&D. In fact, we have seen two full-length campaigns dedicated to allowing players to explore Ravnica or Theros. Now, for the first time, D&D is coming to the world of “Magic: The Gathering” in a full standard set.

Up next in the summer is something special people have been asking for for a long time. We're collaborating with @Wizards_DnD! It's a full black-bordered Standard-legal set featuring Dungeons & Dragons we're calling Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. pic.twitter.com/cBIKfeGIT3

This set is titled “Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.” It is a fully legal set perfect for standard play. The Forgotten Realms is one of D&D’s most iconic settings, so it makes sense for it to be the first location that Magic players get to delve into. This is the realm where players can find many of the classic heroic standbys that people connect to D&D. Hopefully, this grand entrance into Magic will open the door for even more D&D realms to come to the game in the future. Personally, we would like to see the Steampunk setting of Eberron make an appearance in Magic. Just imagine the cool vehicles and artifacts that could come from it!

“Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms” is launching at some point in the third quarter of 2021. We can’t wait to see legendary planeswalkers like Liliana and Chandra interact with some of D&D’s most iconic heroes and villains. Hopefully, we will see Mind Flayers get added as a horror creature as well. The possibilities are virtually endless and we can’t wait to see what comes of this ambitious crossover!
