Who woulda ever thought we’d be getting a “MacGruber” television series? Probably Will Forte, to be honest. Maybe Lorne Michaels.

    We digress-

Just this morning, NBC’s streaming service Peacock announced a whole mess o series and projects they’re working on, and “MacGruber” is one of the titles.

“After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past: Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil — only to find that evil… may be lurking within.”

“Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels will executive produce the series along with Forte, who is writing as well as starring in the “MacGyver” parody. Original sketch co-creators John Solomon and Jorma Taccone are on board to direct.

You can watch Peacock’s series announcement here.

“MacGruber” will hit the service sometime in 2021.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
