When “Avatar: The Last Airbender” was released on the platform in May, it trended on Netflixs’ Top Ten list until the third week of July. As reported on by Forbes, this monthly streak broke a record by being on the top ten list for 61 days in a row. Other titles that have stuck around in the top ten has included “Ozark,” “Tiger King,” “13 Reasons Why,” and “The Office.”

The affect that “Avatar” has had is apparent by this top ten run, reinvigorating a fandom that grew up with the show and introducing newcomers to the franchise. The show itself has also garnered several awards, including the Peabodys, Annies Golden Reel, as well as a Daytime Emmy.

“The Legend of Korra” has also won awards from BTVA, The Peadbodys, and the Annie Awards. Aside from these accolades, the show itself expands on the lore of the Avatar Universe, themes of environmentalism and government, as well as including a LGTBQ+ relationship into the series.

“Avatar” was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and had its original run on Nickelodeon from 2005-2008. The follow up series, “The Legend of Korra,” aired from 2012 to 2014, with seasons one and two on t.v. and three and four airing on Nickelodeon.com.

Legend of Korra is just one of the shows to be streamed on the platform in August, with the Jurassic Park Trilogy dropping on the Netflix that same month.
