Washington Redskins Undergoing ‘Thorough Review’ of Team’s Name

In an announcement on Twitter, The Washington Redskins announced that they would be undergoing a thorough review of the team’s name. They say that they are doing this in light of the current political atmosphere and changes happening throughout the world. The controversy around the name is nothing new and has been pushed back on since the sixties.

There have been many digs at them deciding not to change their name amid those inquiries.

“In light of recent events around our country and feedback from our community, the Washington Redskins are announcing the team will undergo a thorough review of the teams name,” the official statement reads.

The odds of this happening are probably slim to none. If they were going to do it they would more than likely have just announced it. But, they are “considering” a name change which is more than what they’ve done in the past.

If you’ve watched the “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” show on Netflix, then you almost have seen this play out before. Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) starts dating a man after he billionaire husband leaves her who happens to be part of the family that owns the Redskins. Since she is of Native-American descent in the show, she has a hard time accepting this.

I won’t tell you how that all plays out but you will know what I mean if you’ve seen it. As of now this is just an intent to discuss and not anything set in stone. So best not to get upset while we still don’t know anything.
