Make way, Amazon Prime Video is arriving to the watch party.  On Monday morning, prime members had access to the“Watch Party feature on the platform.

With the new feature, you and 99 other prime members can join a communal chat room and collectively watch a movie or T.V. show.  Furthermore, there is a chat option that allows the participants of the party to chat during the party.

    What You Can Watch

There are a couple catches to the Watch Party right now.  Currently, the feature is only accessible on desktop PCs.  In addition, the selection of movies and shows is limited to Prime Video’s video-on-demand service.  To clarify, members will not be able to watch a movie or tv show from the main Amazon through Watch Party.  However, the immense range of Amazon Originals will be available to watch.

Fortunately, Prime members do not have to worry about an extra charge for this feature, as Watch Party is included with all Amazon prime subscriptions.

Back in April, Watch Party was tested through Twitch, a popular streaming site for gaming.  Much of the feedback was very positive and attested to the popularity of the feature.

This new feature of Amazon Prime Video is a great alternative to the theaters, which have closed across the nation due to the coronavirus.  A couple weeks ago, AMC announced that when it reopens, customers will be required to wear masks in the theater.

Are you excited for this new feature of Amazon Prime Video?
