Kevin Bacon is Interested in Playing Freddy Kruger!

Have you ever played 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon? No? Well it’s one of my favorite games where you take an actor and place them with another until you finally get to a film that Kevin Bacon was in. And what could soon be added to the list if things go right and the stars align? Kevin Bacon as Freddie Kruger in a new “Nightmare on Elm Street.”

While doing an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Bacon talked about “Tremors,” and his thoughts on psychological horror in general. But, they also asked him if he would ever consider playing a titular role, like Freddy Kruger.

    To which he responded:

“Sure, It would take a lot of makeup…”

    Warner Bros/ New Line Cinema

He’s usually playing the good guy when we see him but I think this would be a great role for him. He could really have fun with it because he could just let loose. Plus he’s been endorsed by Robert Englund.

While speaking at the Monster Mania Convention in 2019, Englund mentioned:

“He’s not a kid anymore either but the rumor I’ve heard that I like is Kevin Bacon. Kevin loves horror. He’s a real actor. He’s a character actor. Kevin was great in Tremors. Kevin was great in Stir of Echoes. And I’ve heard this rumor. We need someone like that to take it on. And re-do it, exploiting all of the new technology.”

I would be doing an injustice If I didn’t take a few moments to discuss his work in the television show The Following. It’s one of the best roles I’ve ever seen from him and it’s dark and psychological. If you haven’t seen it I thoroughly suggest you do. In it he plays Ryan Hardy who is an ex cop who had to “retire” after not being able to solve a case. It was devastating for him and he comes back on when the killer he was following escapes from prison. Check out the trailer here:
