The Wild Hunt may be gone but it seems that Geralt’s adventures are far from over. According to CD Projekt president Adam Kicinski, development is set to begin on a new Witcher game once Cyberpunk 2077 launches. Recently, Kicinski told journalists from Eurogamer Poland that “a relatively clear concept” has already been chosen for the next entry in the series. CD Projekt intends to begin full production on this new title as soon as Cyberpunk 2077 finally hits shelves. This means we can expect the project to begin in September.
Kicinski went on to say that this new project will not be a direct sequel to 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Instead, the project will be “embedded” in The Witcher universe. Exactly when in the timeline or how is unknown. While Kicinski gave little info, he did say that every game that the company currently has planned is based in either The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077 universes. Two large teams will continue development on Cyberpunk 2077. One smaller team within the studio will begin development on the new Witcher title. No further details were given.
Our next adventure with Geralt may be years away, but at least we can replay the old games to pass the time. One thing we know for sure, the next time we see Geralt will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Hopefully, it will be just as successful as our last journey with Geralt.
