We’ve known that a Diablo cartoon/show was supposed to happen sometime we just didn’t know when. And it seems that while we were waiting to hear from Blizzard about it they went ahead and decided that an Overwatch show was also in the cards. We have word now from Gamespot who saw an update on Nick Van Dyk’s LinkedIn profile, that both these shows are being worked on with Netflix.
Nick Van Dyk is president of Activision Blizzard Studios and has previously served as a producer on the Netlix original Skylanders Academy. Diablo is mentioned in his description of his position within Activision. In the description it says that Diablo is going to get an Anime style cartoon on Netflix. So think Castlevania for Blizzard.
He also says that he’s “developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise,” which could mean another Netflix series is coming. While there is no specifics on who it was sold to we can assume that the same party interested in Diablo would also be hot to take the Overwatch property as well.
