In Hollywood it is not uncommon for actors to take something from the set of the movie or tv series they are working on. You know a little token of something to remember the experience. And well, Henry Cavill is no exception of course. As we all know Henry plays the lead role in Netflix’s The Witcher his character’s named Geralt of Rivia. And this series is based on the best-selling novels written by polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. This series already has a very strong fan base because of not only the books but there was also a series of games that were released as well. So it was only a matter of time until the franchise made a live action series, and ever since it debuted back on December 20th it’s popularity has blown up even more so.
Now as I said of course in Hollywood actors do tend to take things from the set. Emma Watson bought her jewelry from the beauty and the beast set, Chris Hemsworth keeps taking the mjolnir from the Thor set. And Henry Cavill was so caught up in his character that he literally wanted to eat, sleep, and breathe Geralt of Rivia. So he actually went home and the full armor and wig to keep his mindset as that of the monster hunter.
Hissrich explained: It’s not just a role to him. He wanted, for instance, for the armour to look like it had been worn for years and years. So he made breakfast in it and he would sleep in it.
We were like, ‘You don’t have to do that by the way,’ but he’s that invested in embodying his character.
Henry had this to say: I took it all home… It’s not so easy to put on. And it took two hours of hair and make-up every day, so that’s just sitting at home looking cool. I just feel an affiliation with the character. And that actually could be from just having lived in the fantasy genre for so long; a lot of these characters have similar links to one another, and that can often be through one’s own psyche or through writers borrowing off each other.
Geralt felt very familiar to me from the very beginning.
