Florida Preserve Has Natural Hobbit-Like Tunnels
They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard! Scratch that, they’re going to Florida? A visit to the Blowing Rocks Preserve in Florida will let you experience your own fantasy adventure fit for a hobbit.
The Blowing Rocks Preserve is located on Jupiter Island, a long and narrow island to the east of Florida. On the preserve, sea grape plants form natural archways that are large enough for visitors. Walking through these archways, you can take in the beautiful plant and animal life the island has to offer. You may even get lucky and spot some nesting sea turtles! It’s an adventure reminiscent of the natural sights the hobbits saw while on their journey.
Additionally, the Preserve offers a rocky shoreline overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The view is sure to make you feel small! Still want more? The Preserve also offers nature tours with the Nature Conservancy to learn about conservation efforts on the island. The sanctuary is open to the public from 9 am to 4:30 pm daily, so there is plenty of time to take in the gorgeous landscape. At $2 a person, you can’t beat the price either!
