“The Lord of the Rings” Star Viggo Mortensen Rumored to Play Doctor Doom

It’s been rumored that Viggo Mortensen may enter the MCU as the infamous Doctor Doom.  Mortensen is known for his role as Aragorn in the film series The Lord of the Rings.  This rumor was first heard from Cosmic Book News.

    Who is Doctor Doom?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Doctor Doom, he is one of the major villains in the MCU.  He’s trifled with the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and Spider-Man. I would describe his powers as the dark magic type.  Concussive blasts and force fields are all in his ability range, and he is said to be around the same level as the other doctor in town, Doctor Strange.  This, paired with his extreme intelligence, makes him a formidable opponent. If only he were a good guy…

Along with Doctor Doom, it is said that Galactus will also enter the MCU as the second major villain.

We know that if Doctor Doom is arriving, that the Fantastic Four can’t be that far behind.  At the latest San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige mentioned them, but teased that he didn’t have enough time to explain.

We may see more of Doctor Doom, and whoever he’s played by, in his very own solo movie.  There have been talks that the screenwriter is “done” with the movie.

I personally think that Viggo Mortensen fits the Doctor Doom persona perfectly.  He is awesome as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings and I think it would be super cool for him to switch it up a bit.  I am also a fan of Doctor Doom and his background. There are a lot of different sides to him in the comics, but it’s interesting to see how he gets involved with Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch.

All in all, he’s a very dynamic character and I would love to see him in his own movie (preferably portrayed by Viggo Mortensen, but that’s still a grain of sand).

Do you like Doctor Doom?  And what do you think of this pairing?  Let us know in the comments!
