    The Official Tie-in Series to Netflix’s ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ in September 2019

    BOOM! Studios revealed a first look at JIM HENSON’S THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE #1, which is the first issue in a new 12-issue comic book series. Becoming available in September 2019.

    This series will be introducing an immersive story leading up to the events of The Jim Henson Company’s new Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Writer Nicole Andelfinger (Adventure Time) and artist Matias Basla (Sparrowhawk) delve into the secret history of the world of Thra and its inhabitants before the Age of Resistance. In short, a prequel for a prequel.

    You will get to meet Maudra Vala of the Stonewood Clan, mother of young rebel Maudra Fara (a Gelfling leader trying to save her people from complete destruction). Along with another cast of characters that will be adding to these adventures.

    The Arathim (giant spiders and some of the Gelfling’s biggest enemies) have swarmed the land.
    In epic fantasy fashion, Maudra Vala sends out her greatest warrior, Ordon. With hope that searching for the Tomb of Relics in order to retrieve a mythical weapon that could be the one thing to end this seemingly endless war. But the path to the legendary relic is riddled with secret traps and hidden dangers. Will this quest be fulfilled before more damage is done to Thra?

    JIM HENSON’S THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE #1 features a main cover by illustrator Mona Finden and a variant connecting cover by artists Kelly & Nichole Matthews (R.L. Stine’s Just Beyond).

    JIM HENSON’S THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ Archaia imprint. Smith with illustrations from Brian Froud and including additional material from the Jim Henson Archives.

    Print copies of JIM HENSON’S THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE #1 will be available for sale on September 25, 2019 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
