Fans of the Star ☆  Twinkle Precure anime have some exciting news! The magical girl anime is getting a new film on October 19. On Sunday, Toei announced the title of the new film to be Eiga Star ☆  Twinkle Precure. Toei released two visuals, an “Earth” and “Space” visual, for the film that were drawn by illustrator Makiko Inatome.

    The “Earth” and “Space” visuals

The “Earth” visual says “let’s sing a song, so we can become a guidepost.” While the “Space” visual says “we are, everyone, in the middle of a journey.” The taglines are reflective of the film’s primary theme of bonds. Director Yuta Tanaka promises the film to be the “most painful and warm” story in the series so far. That’s a big promise to keep, as Star ☆ Twinkle Precure is the 16th Precure (Pretty Cure) television anime series.

Star ☆ Twinkle Precure is the story of young Hikaru who discovers three aliens named Lala, Fuwa, and Prunce. The alien girls tell Hikaru of the Star Palace, a place where the 12 Star Princesses of the Constellations kept the universe in balance. One day, the palace was attacked and the princesses scattered. Now Lala searches the universe for the legendary Precure warriors to help find the 12 “Princess Star Colored Pens.” These pens will revive the princesses and return balance to the universe. When Fuwa is captured by an enemy, young Hikaru wishes to save her. A Star Color Pendent and Star Color Pen appear to her and allow her to transform into the warrior Cure Star. Thus, Hikaru’s journey to collect the pens and raise Fuwa begins.

The series is being created and developed by a slew of veterans to the anime industry. It boasts a large following among the Japanese viewership. If you are a fan of magical girl series such as Sailor Moon, it may be worth it to watch Hikaru’s journey through the stars.
