    Next Season Of The Umbrella Academy To Begin Filming In May

    Admit it, you kinda fell in love with Gerard Way and Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. Yeah I know it’s like X-Men meets NBC’s good for two seasons Heroes only with a higher brow and edge that only the guy who wrote Welcome To The Black Parade could provide.

    Here comes a spoiler alert:

    The ending was crazy, climactic, evil Vanya shot an energy beam at the moon which caused it to explode, sending way bigger than Armageddon sized rocks in the direction of Earth. These of course collided with the planet ultimately decimating everything. Don’t worry, all hope is not lost. Before a wave of fire leveled New York City, Five used his abilities to send the Academy back to an earlier time to prevent the disaster.

    Now Netflix cannot leave the fate of the world unresolved. Not to mention there’s more source material from Way and illustrator Gabriel Ba that could be adapted. Plus, the show is a hit! Hence the greenlighting of season two.

    Thanks to the folks from Comicbook.com via Production Weekly we’ve learned that the next chapter in The Umbrella Academy saga will begin shooting this May (sooner than expected, thank you fans), as in next month, under a cute little alternative title to distract attention called Mercury. Like people won’t figure it out.

    At the MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, UK… not Alabama. Tom Hopper (Luther the big hairy dude) did an interview along with Emmy Raver-Lampman (Rumor) where he had the following to say about the project’s reception;

    “It’s great to see the response from the fans, because that’s a telling sign. Until I turned up here today, you get an idea that the show’s doing well with a bit of online chat, and people call you up and say, ‘watch the show, man, it’s great. … But it’s great to see the response from the people and see how excited they are about it.”

    And we here at Nerdbot are excited about it too.

    Insert My Chemical Romance joke here…
