‘RAVNICA’ a Gorgeous Magic: The Gathering Artbook

Magic the Gathering has always had not only the best gameplay of any card game on the market, but also the most beautiful artwork and detailed story structure. Now with the newest book release by VIZ Media, RAVNICA comes as a gorgeously detailed artbook full of images and lore.

The book itself is heavy and large. It’s about 12 inches by 12 inches. Each of the pages is a beautiful glossy stock and I’m probably going to sound really weird but it smells wonderful. Like a freshly printed book, because well it is a new book.

Not only does is showcase beautiful artwork that fully brings you into the world of RAVNICA but it also tells you the stories behind these glorious images. You can read more about the characters you have grown to love by playing the game and gain a deeper understanding of the world they inhabit. I’m not sure that knowing these stories will help you play the game any better, but it does help create a more connected feeling when you play.

These are some of my favorite pages though to be honest it was hard to choose. If I could have taken photos of the entire book I would have! The artists included in this really know their stuff. The way that the light plays off the shadow and use of color tones really set these off in a way that is remarkable. Each image is accompanied by a credit with the title of the picture and the illustrators name.

The book covers: Planeswalkers and the Multiverse, The World of Ravnica, Azorius Senate, Orzhov Syndicate, House Dimir, Izzet League, Cult of Rakdos, Gogari Swarm, The Gruul Clans, Boros Legion, Selesnya Conclave, Simic Combine, Claws of the Mastermind and an Appendix: Guilds of Ravnica, 2005-2019.

You can read about locations like Dominaria, Home of the volcanic continent of Shiv, the time-shattered isle of Tolaria, and the cold mountains of Keld. Zendikar which is a land of primal mana that is slowly recovering from the unnatural disaster of colossal predators from the Aether rampaging across the plain, and many other places that are included withing RAVNICA.

There are so many worlds within this world that you really need this book if you want to fully experience what Magic has for you to discover. Not only will you gain a deeper understanding of the lore that creates this world but also come to know some of the characters more intimately. I think that this is a must have for any fan of the game or just anyone who loves fantasy and science fiction.

You can pick up your own copy on Amazon right now for only $24.99 or you can visit Viz.com for more outlets that sell this amazing book.
