There hasn’t been another Final Destination movie since 2011 but that doesn’t mean that people have forgotten. In a recent move by New Line they have decided to revive the series and have hired Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to write the script. Melton and Dunstan are most well known from the horror series Saw.
Between 2000 and 2011 the films grossed $700 million dollars worldwide. The studio no doubt hopes for the nostalgia crowd as well as the hardcore horror fans to throw their money at the next installment. New Line has done very well for themselves lately with the low cost adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘IT’ which made $700 million worldwide on it’s own. It would be neat to see the next Final Destination make as much as the previous six movies combined.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are responsible for writing the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh Saw movies from Lionsgate. They most recently are known to be working on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark at CBS Films and are working on a mystery Christmas horror project at Sony.
So far there is no word on what sort of plot they will be using or any details for casting. The only thing we know is that it is being billed as a “re-imagining” for the series according to the Hollywood Reporter.
