Tokyo Con Reveals New Godzilla Designs & Music

The wait till May 31 just got even more agonizing for Godzilla fans!

Legendary’s Tokyo Comic-Con Godzilla panel this past weekend had a ton of reveals and leaks to get fans excited for Godzilla: King of the Monsters next spring. Toy company Bandai came along, as well, showing off the new additions to their S.H.MonsterArts line and giving us our first clear looks at the redesigned monsters.

Obviously, Godzilla hasn’t changed much since the last film, but he’s been updated with more classic dorsal fins and different feet.

Mothra shows off the most changes, featuring almost mantis-like arms and a stinger.

Rodan looks perfect, echoing his head design from Final Wars while adding his new molten rock texture.

The real treat is our first full view of the movie’s big bad, King Ghidorah. With his massive bat wings and snarling horned heads, he looks suitably evil. I can’t wait to see Godzilla throw down with this demon!

But we didn’t just get to see new reveals, we also got to hear them! Before the panel began, attendees were treated to composer Bear McCreary’s new rendition of Akira Ifukube’s classic Godzilla theme. The tune is updated just right for Hollywood, including a powerful choir chanting “GOJIRA” in the background. This is sure to rumble some theaters when the movie comes out next May!

But this isn’t all the news. Rumor has it that a new trailer is coming next week. Keep your eyes open for it!

Are you excited for Godzilla: King of the Monsters? What monster do you think looks the best? Let us know in the comments!
