According SYFY Wire, Joss Whedon talked about giving Comic closure as Fox takes Buffy and Firefly licenses from Dark Horse. With Buffy make a return to the supernatural world by slaying vampires. The reason Joss Whedon wanted to come back to comics is because it was going to be the end. Whether he wrote an ending or not. He also didn’t want Dark Horse lose the license to Buffy. “In the meantime they want do something more with Dark Horse right now. Especially with Fox taking the Buffy licence and Firefly licence back. Dark Horse has shepherded these licences for decades now,” said Joss. Dark Horse was originally published in September of 1998. Which made it a 20 year run. However, wait they did take back Firefly!?

The series is in development at Fox 21 TV Studios which, is the cable streaming division of 20th Century Fox. According to Deadline; the studio behind the original TV series which will also get on the potential reboot. The two channels are WB and UPN, where it ran for seven seasons between the two channels. Buffy not only helped Sarah Michelle Gellar become star as a household name. However, it helped Joss Whedon be more established as an creator. Monica Owusu-Breen has been tapped as the writer, executive producer and show runner of the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Joss Whedon will also be executive producer with Gail Berman, Fran, Kaz Kazui and Joe Earley from Berman’s Jackal Group.

Let’s talk about Buffy! On the eve of the show rebooting the fans do deserve closure and the writer aims do just that. “Similar to the show we are not going all off that everybody is dead! However we did think about doing that,” Whedon said. “But when Chris Gage and I sat down together. It was with the intent that with after everything we wanted to say something since we been through a lot. The mirrors and rounds were off where the comic run. They also said that, “You have four issues, and it was like, Ohhhh, That’s all the time we have.”

“So we dealt with a lot of things in small panels. We didn’t know if I fit it all in. But it was very important to try. We made sure that the journey wasn’t continuing. We wanted to give the Dark Horse era some closure. So, like the show the fans will get just enough closure not to complain! However, the main Buffy story line wasn’t the only narrative in the universe that Joss took to the comics.

Speaking on the Fray, the futuristic post-apocalypse expansion of the Buffyverse that he created and wrote. It was his first foray into the world of comics. The writer said, “its fate was far more complicated than Buffy’s main title. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with the Fray actually, I mean legally,” Joss said.

If Joss Whedon, ends up retaining the rights to the Fray? Could we see more comics though Fox with the rest of the universe. It maybe acquired under more speculative terms. Would you like see more comics if acquired? Do you like what they want do with Buffy?
