If you are anything like me, your precious little heart is set alight whenever the slightest mention of a cartoon you forgot about pops up in your news feed. Every generation is nostalgic, but the children that grew up in the 80s and early 90s are perhaps the most eager to discuss pop culture from our childhood, and why shouldn’t we?
It was an awesome time to be a kid, which of course is why every studio is churning out one retro remake after another. In my opinion, the remakes that get me all tingly are the cartoon-turned live action-type ala Transformers (the first one-don’t judge me).
Here are the cartoons that the child in all of us needs in this troubled world:
5. Snorks
The second-hand cousin of the Smurfs, Snorks ran from 1984- 1989 on NBC. The Snorks, so aptly named due to the snorkels on their heads (that they managed to breathe through despite being under the water?), were small, colorful beings that lived in the undersea world of Snorkland. How amazing would it be to adapt this movie?!
4. The World of David the Gnome
David and his wife Lisa hit the small screen in the U.S. in 1987 on Nickelodeon, and I was smitten. Can’t you see Danny Devito as a grouchy David?! Just me? Moving on then.
3. Popples

I proudly wore Popples perfume as a child, and it smelled like liquefied cotton candy- which is a pretty accurate representation of the show itself. Don’t even get me started on what Netflix did to these guys in 2015…
2. Shirt Tales
A movie where a rag-tag group of crime fighters has everything they think projected across the front of their shirts? Yes, please.
1. Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Great show, but would be an even better horror flick or a tragic hero story! Oh, the possibilities.
What are some of your favorite childhood shows you’d like to see remade into something completely new? Let us know in the comments!
