Sacha Baron Cohen announces new TV series

    “Wawaweewa!!” “It’s nice!!” “Great success!!!”

Yes I know, you read those quotes in the Borat accent, don’t worry I did it too. You can’t help it!! Well, he’s back!! Showtime has officially announced Sacha Baron Cohen‘s new satirical series, “Who is America”, which will debut on Sunday, July 15 at midnight ET (9 p.m. PT on July 14) on the network, and will also premiere again on that Sunday night at 10 p.m, with subsequent episodes airing Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The series will consist of seven episodes filmed over the past year, which will explore individuals from diverse backgrounds, both infamous and unknown across the political and cultural spectrum who represent America. This series seems right up Sacha’s alley as he’s known to stretch the boundaries of political, moral, and religious aspects of society. What’s going to be interesting is seeing Cohen’s take on the current political climate.

Posters have been seen in Brooklyn, NY, giving the first glimpse of what the show may have to offer. The posters have Baron Cohen’s name largely plastered across them, along with the words, “You’ve been warned.” Well, that has me sold. Cohen has always delivered no matter what character he plays, and I believe it’s something we need to lighten the mood.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Sacha in a major role, since 2016’s The Brothers Grimsby, which wasn’t well received by critics and fans alike, Sacha has done a few cameos in-between. The latest teaser gives away a huge clue as it blatantly states, “Imagine if Sacha Baron Cohen had been undercover secretly filming a new show for a year.”  It is then followed by flashes of images and ends on what is presumably Cohen asking Cheney to sign his waterboard kit — I didn’t even know those existed. Clues also point to a possible Donald Trump interview. In any case we’re in for a crazy ride.

Check out the teaser trailer below.

Are you excited to see Sacha Baron Cohen again? Are you ready to hear what he has to say? Whats your favorite character that Cohen portrays? SOUND OFF IN THE COMMENTS!!
