FX Drops Teaser for “Impeachment: American Crime Story”

The highly anticipated FX anthology series is back with an all new teaser trailer for “Impeachment.” Ryan Murphy’s new series will examine the national crisis that lead to the first impeachment of a sitting president in over a century and is told through the eyes of women involved in the scandal. The series is based on the book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President by Jeffrey Toobin. The series written by Sarah Burgess is produced by 20th Television and FX Productions, with real life Monica Lewinsky serving as one of the producers.

The anthology series has been a success, with “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson” with both series receiving a combined 31 Emmy Nominations and winning 12. Both series were critically acclaimed and sported strong casts, so the stakes are high for “Impeachment.” Luckily, the teaser and casting announcements are promising and seem to be in line with the previous success of the first two seasons.

“Impeachment” stars Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Edie Falco as Hilary Clinton and Clive Owen as Bill Clinton. That last one is a curveball honestly. Not that Owen isn’t a terrific actor, but I don’t think I’ve pegged the British dramatic actor as being a strong Clinton impersonator. But then again, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” gave us David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, so when it comes to FX and Ryan Murphy, I guess anything is possible.

The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much, but the ominous and foreboding tone of what IS shown is enough to peak my interest. Luckily we won’t have to wait too long, as the show is set to premiere Sept. 7th on FX.

Are you looking forward to “Impeachment?” You can check out the teaser trailer below.
