Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted” Gets Prequel at NBC’s Peacock

Seth MacFarlane is doing it again. He’s bringing that lovable but foul-mouthed, pot-smoking, rated M for mature teddy bear Ted back to life. NBC’s streaming service Peacock has ordered a live-action prequel to the 2012 cult hit “Ted.”

MacFarlane act as executive producer while also writing for the series. He is currently in talks to reprise his voiceover role of Ted.

“Ted,” which came out in 2012, starred Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, a Bostonian who wished upon a star for his teddy bear to come to life (spoiler: he did). The movie also starred Mila Kunis as John’s girlfriend, Lori. The movie had a great supporting cast with Joel McHale playing Kunis’ boss and pushy love interest, Giovanni Ribisi as the creepy stalker that wanted Ted all for himself, Patrick Warburton playing John’s co-worker and friend, “Flash Gordon” actor Sam Jones made a cameo as himself, and the entire movie is narrated by Sir Patrick Stewart.

It was the first R-rated movie to become the highest-grossing comedy of all time that was also original content. Both the first and second movies brought in $750 million worldwide.

“Ted” will be MacFarlane’s second series with Peacock. But, MacFarlane has always been a busy guy, from creating and voicing the hit animated series “Family Guy” to preforming on Broadway, to now working on this while also working on 6 other projects.

I for one cannot wait to see Ted back on the screen. As a long-time fan of MacFarlane, I wait in anticipation for my Thunder Buddy to return.
