Live-Action “Mega Man” Movie Still Happening (Some Day)

Directors and writers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are still hell-bent on that live-action “Mega Man” movie happening. And, thanks to their “Project Power” film panel during SDCC at Home, we know that there will be ‘big news soon.’

Terri Schwartz from IGN spoke to the pair during their livestream, asking about writer Mattson Tomlin possibly joining the “Mega Man” project.

    Joost responded:

“That is true. We had such a great time working with Mattson on Project Power that we invited him in to help us out with Mega Man. We are super excited about it. I think we’re going to have some big news about it soon. I can’t say all that much right now, but it’s a project very near and dear to our hearts and we’re psyched.”

“Mega Man was the first Nintendo video game I ever played,” Schulman said, prompting Schwartz to then ask, “What do you love about Mega Man?”

“I like that he’s an underdog hero,” Schulman answered. “Both of us are deeply fascinated by robotics and the future of automation, for better and for worse. I think trying to combine that into one of our favorite historical video games is the ultimate challenge.”

This sounds pretty promising for a film from a team who clearly love the character. So, hopefully we’ll be getting that “Mega Man” ‘big news’ soon.

“Project Power” stars Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Dominique Fishback, and will be hitting Netflix on August 14th 2020.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other projects.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
