Rey and Ben’s Kiss Confirmed Not Romantic In New Novelization

At the end of the last film I couldn’t have been the only one in the audience thinking KISS! And when they did tears of joy for after years of waiting for something to happen it FINALLY did. But now it would seem my dreams are dashed because now in the novelization of the movie it gives more explanation as to what was going on inside their heads.

“His heart was full as Rey reached for his face, let her fingers linger against his cheek. And then, wonder of wonders, she leaned forward and kissed him. A kiss of gratitude, acknowledgement of their connection, celebration that they’d found each other at last.

But then she drew back, concern on her face. She could feel him growing cold.

    Ben smiled at her.

He had given Rey back to the galaxy. It wouldn’t atone for the darkness he’d wrought, but it was what he could do.“

We don’t have Ben Solo’s ghost, but we have (what joy!!!) Ben Solo’s ghost voice! 🤦‍♀️😬🥺

Perfect!! I’m so happy! I feel myself so “closure” right now! 😤😒

So unfortunately for all you Rey and Ben shippers, it looks like the kiss was platonic. Which is disappointing to say the least. Especially since a platonic but understanding moment could have been written as “Rey brushed Kylo’s hair back from his face, and in that moment they comforted eachother knowing that it would be their last together.” But hey, now we know.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker the novelization is set to come out in digital and paperback March 17th.
