Star Wars The Legends Of Luke Skywalker The Manga Review

We all know the tale of the famous Jedi that is Luke Skywalker. We’ve seen his journey in countless films and other source material. From a simple farmboy to one of the greatest jedis of ever lived. Luke has many stories to tell, but of course as humble as he is we don’t really hear much from him. So that’s why this manga is great it does a fantastic job at giving us first hand encounters with Luke himself.

When I had first heard of an official Luke Skywalker manga I was both hopeful and intrigued right away. But it blew me away in just the first page. Seeing how this was adapted from a eastern perspective was amazing. It’s obviously drawn in a manga style. But all the artist do a fantastic job at making all of the artwork original and yet still capture that star wars aesthetic that we all know and love so much. The more you read it the more it becomes increasingly hard to pick out a favorite drawing in this because every picture is better than the last.

Perhaps one of the best parts of this manga is that it’s a compilation of different stories that all fit so well together. As stated before all of them are first hand encounters of Luke so you get to seem him through the eyes of others. Giving you an immersive experience and helping you understand more of how much of a difference he really made to everyone he met. It’s fun to think about how one man changed so many lives throughout the galaxy and did it with a smile on his face.

It was very clear that everyone who worked on this Himekawa, Fukaya, Kisaki, Haruichi, Subaru, and Liu all have a deep love for Star Wars. They did such an amazing job at every story. As said before, none of the stories connect with one another. They’re all one stand alones that capture the legend of Luke. But even though they are one shots it definitely feels like they could make a full fled series out of any one of these stories. Reading these helped remind me why I feel in love with Luke as a kid. Seeing such a kind and gentle heart help guide people was just amazing.

I can’t recommend this highly enough. There was something about this manga that didn’t let me put it down. If it wasn’t from the breathtaking art to the heart tugging stories it’s definitely worth the read. While reading this I couldn’t help but imagine this as an anime. One can dream right? But even though there are no words on that happening we still got this amazing manga.

Star Wars The Legends Of Luke Skywalker captures the essence of Luke perfectly. You see him from different views and how he helped them in one way or another. If you’re a Star Wars fan this book is surely for you. With all that being said the book is a 10/10
