A Guide to the Bonanza Slot Game

The Bonanza title is one of the most iconic slot games released in the iGaming industry and has been pivotal in the evolution of online casino games. The slot game was released by notable developers, Big Time Gaming, in 2016, and has since become one of their most renowned releases. The Bonanza slot game introduced the extremely popular Megaways mechanic to the iGaming industry. The innovative game has since become one of the most played mechanics on the market and is hosted by platforms worldwide which also fall into the categories of online scratchcards, slingo and lotto sites via their content development.

    Bonanza Slot Developers

As previously mentioned, the Bonanza slot was developed and released by Big Time Gaming, which is a noteworthy name in the iGaming industry. Big Time Gaming is an experienced name in the iGaming industry, having been founded in 2011. Over their time in the industry, they have established a strong focus on slot games, unlike some other developers who also explore various venues, such as lotto games. Their divided attention on slot games has resulted in the Australian developers becoming one of the most popular in the iGaming industry. Since their inception in 2011, Big Time Gaming has gone on to release over 90 slot games. In their portfolio of games, they have implemented a wide range of slot themes and mechanics, showcasing their ability to adapt. Since their beginnings, the Bonanza title and the introduction of the Megaways mechanic have been one of the developer’s greatest successes so far.

    Bonanza Slot Background

The visuals in the Bonanza title are well-crafted and are similar to those seen in other mining-themed slot games. Like many other online slots in the genre, the gameplay of the Bonanza release will take place at the opening of a stone mine. The playgrid, which is situated at the opening of the mine, is set on a stone backdrop and is bordered by a similar stone archway. Beside the stone archway visible is a grass hill, decorated with various bushes and flowers, adding to the aesthetic. The top set of reels features two parallel tunnels and minecarts, which adds to the mining theme.

This slot was the pioneering title that launched the Megaways mechanic into the iGaming industry. Since the Bonanza release, the mechanic has remained relatively unchanged, with the gameplay on this slot taking place across 6 reels, each of which could feature up to 7 symbols. At a maximum 6×7 playgrid, the Bonanza release will feature 117,649 paylines, which is a much larger count than traditional online slots.

    Bonanza Slot Symbols

There are a myriad of base game symbols that make up the reels in the Bonanza slot game, which range in value and imagery. The lower-value slot symbols can be depicted by classic playing card imagery, which do not specifically align to the mining theme, though they are all uniquely coloured. The higher-value slot symbols are more thematically crafted, featuring a range of uniquely coloured gemstones.

    Lower Value Symbols

    • 9
    • 10
    • J
    • Q

    Medium Value Symbols

    • K
    • A
    • Green Gem
    • Blue Gem

    Higher Value Symbols

    • Red Gem
    • Purple Gem

Additionally, the Bonanza slot has incorporated a Wild symbol and a Scatter symbol, which are both designed to align with the mining theme. The Wild symbol in the slot is represented by red dynamite, with the text ‘Wild’ attached. The Scatter symbols are represented by various letters that spell out the word ‘GOLD’.

    Bonanza Bonus Features

The Bonanza slot has implemented a range of bonus features that enhance the overall gameplay experience. Starting with Cascading Reels, which, since this release, has gone on to become a prominent feature in many Megaways slots. This feature is triggered after each matching symbol combination is formed, with the contributing symbols removed from the reels after the return value is triggered. The removed symbols will leave empty spaces, which will be replaced with new symbols from above. The Cascading Reels feature could be retriggered and will continue to be triggered until there are no matching symbol combinations present on the reels.

The Wild symbol in the Bonanza slot could assist in the formation of matching symbol combinations. The Wild symbol is engineered in the game to substitute for all base game symbols to create or extend matching symbol combinations where possible.

The Bonanza slot has implemented a fun Free Spins feature that gamers may encounter during their spins. The feature could be triggered if gamers land four Scatter symbols spelling G-O-L-D. If achieved, 12 Free Spins will be granted to begin with; however, landing additional Scatter symbols will add five extra Free Spins. In these Free Spins, multipliers will be presented to all outcomes. The multiplier will begin at 1x and will increase by +1 for every matching symbol combination landed. A retrigger of the feature is available if gamers land 3 or more Free Spin Scatters in the minecarts.

    Responsible Gaming

Please ensure to always gamble responsibly, and keep gameplay safe and fun at all times.
