When “Star Trek” debuted in 1966, it was hard to imagine creator Gene Roddenberry could have known what a cultural phenomenon it would become. In 2025, the franchise includes 13 live-action and animated shows, 14 feature films, and countless books, comics, and toy lines. Now the show is looking to boldly go where it has never been before, the preschool market.
“Star Trek: Scouts,” an animated series designed for the franchise’s youngest demographic yet, has just premiered on YouTube.

“Star Trek: Scouts” follows three 8-year-old friends, JR, Sprocket, and Roo. This trio is in training to become future Starfleet Explorers. As part of their education, they will go on out-of-this-world missions that push them to “discover, grow, and boldly go!”
It will be a short-form series with episodes lasting between 3 to 4 minutes. The first two episodes launched today, with the other 18 rolling out through 2026.
This show is a collaborative effort between CBS Studios and Nickelodeon Digital Studios. It will be available on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel.
