Are you anxiously awaiting Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s long-gestating sequel “28 Years Later?” While we can’t speed up time to June 20th, we can offer an alternative movie during this trying time. You can see where it all began with 2000’s “28 Days Later,” which is re-releasing in theaters for one night only this week.

This version will contain bonus footage and a sneak peek of the upcoming third installment “28 Years Later.”

Danny Boyle’s #28DaysLater returns to the big screen for one night only on May 21 – featuring exclusive first-look content from #28YearsLater. #DannyBoyle #CillianMurphy pic.twitter.com/vhPmmsrKqk

The franchise begins with a group of misguided animal rights activists who free a caged chimpanzee. Unfortunately, the primate has also been infected with the “Rage” virus in a medical research lab. Skip to a month later, and we find London bike courier Jim (Cillian Murphy), awakening from a coma to find the city all but deserted.

As he ventures through London, he finds horrific zombie-like victims of the virus. However, he does find some fellow survivors like Selena (Naomie Harris) and Frank (Brendan Gleeson). The group joins forces to try to survive not only the Rage virus, but also its victims.

You can grab tickets for the one-night-only May 21st screening of “28 Days Later” here.
