Amy Pascal, David Heyman to Produce Next “James Bond” Movie

After a lengthy legal battle over the rights to the “James Bond” franchise, it has finally found a new set of producers. Rights holder Amazon MGM has just closed a deal with Amy Pascal and David Heyman. Pascal will produce under her Pascal Pictures banner, with Heyman producing for Heyday Films.

At this time it’s unknown if Pascal and Heyman have signed on for just one film or project, or several.

    Band After Broccoli

This will be the first “James Bond” film after Amazon MGM assumed creative control from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Producers Broccoli and Wilson’s family have had creative control over the spy thrillers since the 1960s. Signaling a huge change in the talents behind the franchise.

“We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility,” Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film, said. “Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”

Pascal produced the Tom Holland-fronted “Spider-Man” films. Heyman is behind the “Harry Potter” franchise and its spinoff “Fantastic Beasts.” So there is no denying either of their abilities to help adapt a successful IP in a feature film.

“James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema,” Pascal and Heyman said in a joint statement. “We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about new “James Bond” project(s) as they become available.
