Death is back in action for the 6th installment of the “Final Destination” franchise, “Final Destination: Bloodlines.” We now know, this will be an origin story of sorts for the phenomenon of death coming for those who dodge it.

The Trailer
This new trailer for “Bloodlines” gives us way more backstory while still delivering on the gore. We see a large family BBQ where, in franchise fashion, a chain of events colbinates in someone getting run over with a lawnmower. As devastated as the family is, the grandmother begins to explain how this was no accident.
Flashing back several decades, we see her as a young woman at a swanky cocktail party in a building with a glass floor. She has a vision of a similar series of “coincidences” leading to a huge fire and the floor shattering. Just like the first film, she is able to get some people to evacuate. Like prior entries, this escapse sets them on a path to be chased by death itself.
Except now, it’s coming for families several generations deep since they were technically never supposed to exist.
As exciting as all of this is, the real takeaway is getting to see the late horror legend Tony Todd (“Candyman”) returning to the franchise in one of his final roles. Todd played William Bludworth in “Final Destination,” “Final Destination 2,” and “Final Destination 5.” He also lended his distinctive voice to “Final Destination 3.”
