Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon & Kids to Star in “Family Movie”

Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer”) and her husband Kevin Bacon (“MaXXXine”) are teaming up to direct and star in “Family Movie.” The horror comedy will also star the couple’s children Travis (“Keep Coming Back”) and Sosie Bacon (“Smile”).

“Family Movie” is based on a screenplay by Dan Beers (“Premature”). It centers around an eclectic but tight-knit family of filmmakers working on their latest low-budget slasher. Everything is going well until a body turns up on the set. Terror and hilarity ensue as the production spirals out of control when they realize the only way to keep filming is to cover up the murder.

“I have fallen in love with directing,” Sedgwick told Variety in June. “This feels so much better than acting. I’m much less vulnerable. And I feel like I know what I’m doing more. I have so much confidence. As an actor, I am filled with self-doubt.”

All four of the Bacon clan will produce for Mixed Breed Films along with Norman Golightly for Dark Castle Entertainment.

“There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons,” says Golightly, Dark Castle co-CEO. “We can’t wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences.”

Currently, there is no set release window for “Family Movie.” We’ll keep you posted on updates about the film as they become available.
