Augmented reality games continue to come to the fore

Gaming audiences have been treated to some impressive releases in recent years. One of them is certainly Pokemon Go, a title that has achieved global success thanks to its augmented reality aspect and the game’s ability to bring people together. In fact, there is far more to Niantic’s product than many people give it credit for, particularly as numerous augmented reality games, such as Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, failed to take off.

Pokemon Go has certainly set the standard in the augmented reality sphere and created a huge amount of awareness around the future of AR games. People now play the game daily and have strategies for hunting Pokemon and taking down gyms, similar in many respects to gamers who execute strategies in Call of Duty and learn a basic blackjack strategy before embarking on a gaming marathon. Pokemon Go’s population of players has essentially helped shape augmented reality games in the future, with developers everywhere aiming to replicate the success of the title.

Augmented reality gaming is only going to get bigger and better

If you’re yet to see the appeal of playing AR releases, then you’ll probably have the chance to sample a variety of games in this area soon. Thanks to the presence of around 1.4 billion AR devices, its potential is massive. As such, by 2027, this particular genre of gaming is expected to reach a market size of $38.03 billion. For passionate gamers, the opportunity to purchase an innovative headset and explore real-life environments that essentially have 3D virtual images superimposed onto them is a unique experience. With more and more products continually coming to the fore, augmented reality games are certainly going to become more prominent in the near future.

    Knightfall AR is popular

While Pokemon Go will be regarded as the originator of this particular category of gaming, there are a number of other titles hoping to record the same type of success. One of them is Knightfall AR, a fantasy-themed release where players have to defend Acre from the Mamluk Warriors. As waves of attacks come a player’s way, they can defend themselves in numerous ways as they attempt to defeat the enemy and keep them away with challenging obstacles. Also containing quests and the ability to share in-game photos, Knightfall AR is impressive.

    Zombies, Run! is worth playing

Although Zombies, Run! will create plenty of scares, it’s an AR game with strong potential. After all, the idea of being attacked by hordes of zombies is enough to spook even the most staunch zombie gamer. A title that has over 1 million downloads at the time of writing, what makes this zombie-filled product even more unique, though, is the game’s fitness aspect. As players escape from zombies and aim to stay alive, various rewards come their way. For example, the faster a player runs, the more supplies they earn. Likewise, there are plenty of enthralling missions to complete as players enjoy running with a zombie-filled difference.

AR Sports Basketball is perfect for fans of the sport

While entering a fantasy realm and keeping fit while escaping from zombies is enticing, sports games are perfectly suited to the augmented reality genre. For basketball fanatics, AR Sports Basketball is an option that is capable of keeping them entertained for hours on end. Using a smartphone device to play the game, the title’s community of players can shoot hoops and tackle a variety of challenges in real-time from a huge selection of testing angles. As the augmented reality space gathers further momentum, more sports-themed games like AR Sports Basketball could be on the horizon.
