    “The Devil Wears Prada” Stars in Talks to Return for Sequel

    Some exciting news for fans of “The Devil Wears Prada.” It has been confirmed that original stars and director/producer are all in talks for a possible sequel. This means Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt may get to revisit their characters. Director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman would also return.

    Word is this will be a production through 20th Century Studios, under parent company Disney. EW says original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is also working on the sequel’s screenplay, but for now we’ll say it’s a possible rumor. It’s also technically a rumor that the stars will be returning but there have been enough crumbs dropped that we believe this to be true. For instance the mini reunion that Streep, Hathaway, and Blunt had at the 2024 SAG awards.

    With an impressive global box office revenue of $326 million and widely positive reviews, the original “Devil Wears Prada” secured its esteemed position on the 2007 Oscar nominations list. The film follows the journey of Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she finds her bearings in the whirlwind world of New York’s fashion journalism scene. Working under the icy and intimidating Miranda Priestly (Streep), who serves as the uncompromising editor-in-chief of the fictitious “Runway” magazine, Andy’s experiences unfold with a distinctly cold, yet captivating narrative twist.

    The original film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, dramatizing her experiences as an assistant to Anna Wintour, the esteemed editor-in-chief of Vogue. Weisberger has since expanded her literary universe with two follow-up novels. “Revenge Wears Prada” (2013) offers a glimpse into the life of Andy, portraying her as an editor of a bridal magazine and once more entwining her path with Miranda’s. In contrast, “When Life Gives You Lululemons” (2018) shifts focus to Emily, chronicling her career as a publicist in the tranquil Connecticut suburbs. These stories could possibly be incorporated into the new film.
