“Dune” Director Reacts to “Deadpool” Popcorn Bucket War

Today we bring you the most perplexing bit of celebrity interaction we’ve ever seen (this week). “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds is waging an assault on “Dune: Part Two” director Denis Villeneuve with….popcorn buckets.

Earlier this year, Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” hit theaters. As part of the marketing campaign, cinemas were offering specialty popcorn buckets meant to resemble the Sandworms in the film/book. But the internet being the internet saw these buckets bore a striking resemblance to well… a flesh light. This sparked countless memes and pieces of merchandise joking about having relations with the bucket.

    War of The Popcorn Buckets

Last month, to promote the upcoming release of “Deadpool and Wolverine” Reynolds released a video of a Wolverine-shaped popcorn bucket. The design has the comic hero with his mouth agape in an obviously sexual way. The video’s description declares this to be the war of the popcorn buckets.

Now, the “Dune: Part Two” director has responded to this bizarre bit of of PR. “They are tremendously jealous of our bucket and they are doing their best to try to bring something horrific to the world,” Villeneuve told E-Talk. “But, the Dune bucket is unmatchable…I’m not saying I don’t like the bucket. It was difficult to beat the Dune bucket. It was like one of a kind.”
