Animation fans are about to be in for a treat with “The Imaginary” trailer. Studio Ponoc has released the trailer for their new film, which will debut on Netflix later this year. Helmed by Studio Ghibli alum Yoshiyuki Momose, the film is based on the novel by A.F. Harrold.
The Ghibli style influences are clear, and if you saw John Krasinski’s “IF” earlier this year you may be feeling a little wary of tales centering around imaginary friends. Yet this looks so much darker and more focused than the live action / cg hybrid film.
The English language voice cast is also full of absolute legends including: Hayley Atwell, Kal Penn, and LeVar Burton. It also features the voices of Louie Rudge-Buchanan, Evie Kiszel, Sky Katz, Jeremy Swift, Jane Singer, Ruby Barnhill, Roger Craig Smith, Courtenay Taylor, and Miles Nibbe.
