On February 19th, 1980, music lost the legendary Bon Scott, lead singer for the Australian rock band AC/DC. Production companies Halo Films and Protocol Pictures are currently working on “The Kid From Harvest Road” paying tribute to the iconic vocalist.

The companies have confirmed Lee Tiger Halley (“Boy Swallows Universe”) will be playing the role of Scott.

“The Kid From Harvest Road” is NOT a biopic, but will try to capture the essence of Scott’s early life. While it draws inspiration from the stories and the atmosphere of the 1960s, the narrative will be fictional. The film focuses on his formative years and dives into his influences and the events that shaped him. Of course, all leading to him ultimately becoming the frontman of AC/DC.

It “promises to be a poignant portrayal of the man behind the legend,” according to Halo Films’ website. “His path from a cherished yet troubled youth to a prodigious artist is a tale interwoven with the threads of magic and passion.”

“The Kid From Harvest Road”  David Vincent Smith directs from a script he co-wrote with Stephen Belowsky. “I was truly inspired by his charismatic character, but what interested me most was his early, life not the caricature we all know on stage,” Belowsky said. “The teen who walked the streets of Fremantle… this is a love letter to Fremantle and Bon reimagined through the eyes of the author.”

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey to illuminate the early years of Bon Scott,” Ian Hale of Halo Films said. “His story is one of resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of his dreams. Through this film, we aim to honour his legacy and inspire audiences with the transformative power of music and determination.”

Scott tragically passed away at the age of 33, as AC/DC was coming off the success of 1979’s “Highway to Hell.” Brian Johnson replaced Scott, and went on to record the mega-hit album “Back in Black” with the band in the spring of 1980.

Surviving AC/DC members Johnson and Angus Young have also just announced their first tour in eight years. Tickets to the UK/European shows are available here.

Production on “The Kid From Harvest Road” is expected to begin in early 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available.
