The world lost the best Batman in November of 2022 with the passing of actor Kevin Conroy. Having voiced the Dark Knight across numerous cartoons (“Batman: The Animated Series“) and video games, he racked up the most time as Bruce Wayne. Fans have agreed for decades that no one could top his performances. One fellow performer even went to far as to say they’d never voice their character again without him. That person? Why, none other than Mark Hamill, who voiced The Joker.
This isn’t anything new, as Hamill declared it was ‘likely‘ he wouldn’t do the character again following Conroy’s passing. But this time, he said he was “done playing Joker” in front of a collected audience at a convention.

During a spotlight panel at Fan Expo San Francisco, Hamill told the audience he wouldn’t be voicing the role unless it’s opposite Kevin Conroy. “Without Batman, crime has no punchline,” he said. While this is sad, it’s also completely understandable.
We will still be getting one last Kevin Conroy Batman performance in the upcoming “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” game, which is due out February 2nd, 2024.
Thank you for the years of capers and ha-has, Mark. You’ll forever be the best Clown Prince of Crime to us.
