“Mystery Science Theater 3000” Doing 2023 Thanksgiving Day Marathon

Thanksgiving is associated with many events that coincide with a massive day of feasting. Football, feasting, and Black Friday sales abound! But who the heck wants to do any of that when you can kick back and watch some of the worst B-movies around with Tom Servo and Crow? That’s right. This Thanksgiving, the robots of the Satellite of Love are holding a B-Movie marathon to celebrate the day of stuffing faces. Football? Please, don’t insult us. We’re called Nerdbot for a reason! The “Mystery Science Theater 3000 Mega Turkey Day Marathon Telethon” is 48 hours long, and will bring us some of the best “MST3K” has to offer.

It’s hard to believe that “MST3K” is 35 years old. Originally created by Joel Hodgson, the series aired for the first time on the 24th of November, 1988. Joel starred as the original victim of his bosses Dr. Forrester — played by Trace Beaulieu, who was also the original voice and puppeteer of Crow T. Robot — and brief sidekick Dr. Erhardt (J. Elvis Weinstein). By the second season, Dr. Erhardt mysteriously disappeared, and was replaced by TV’s Frank (Frank Conniff). Joel was relentlessly forced to watch bad movies. Riffing on them while joined by the robots he built, Crow and Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy).

The Flavor Might Change, But The Formula Never Will

“MST3K” has gone through several different iterations of hosts and villains, but the formula has always remained the same. Making us laugh by riffing on some of the worst movies we’ve ever seen. This coming Turkey Day, they’ll be sharing some of the best movies the series has to offer. Apparently both originals, and those from the revival series on Netflix. Movies such as “The Pumaman” (1980), “The Bubble” (1966), and “The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent” (1957) are part of the extensive line-up. And will be available for viewing on Shout!TV, Gizmoplex, and the official “MST3K” Channel.

So, from 9am (EST) November 23rd to the 25th, we’ll be given cheesy movies, the worst they can find (la-la-la~), We’ll have to sit and watch them all, while we slowly lose our minds~ Now keep in mind, we can’t control where the movies begin or end~ We’ll have to keep our sanity with the help of our robot friends!
