We just got a second chilling trailer for David Gordon Green‘s upcoming movie “The Exorcist: Believer.” The highly anticipated film will be a direct sequel to the original 1973 film “The Exorcist” directed by the late William Friedkin.

“The Exorcist: Believer” will focus on Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.) who lost his pregnant wife 12 years ago in a Haitian earthquake. Since then he has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett) on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia O’Neill), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn).

MacNeil being the mother of the possessed Regan (Linda Blair) in the 1973 film. Burstyn is currently the only confirmed returning cast member from the original film. Though there have been rumors about Blair reprising her role as well. But aside from her being spotted on set, which could easily have been for an advisory role, there is no proof of this.

The new trailer gives us a better sense of the level of creepy possessed tween action we are in for. But don’t take our word for it, you can check it out for yourself below.

“The Exorcist: Believer” will hit theaters nationwide on October 6th.
