Grandmother Roberta Wright has become a social media sensation. She shot to viral fame after posting pictures of pulling a loaf of freshly baked bread out of her mailbox. She even needed oven mitts to take her mail out, due to the scorching temperatures. A tongue-in-cheek commentary on the recent horrific Texas heat.
Wright says she initially posted the pictures because she liked the ‘is it possible’ idea. “It’s the storytelling of your imagination,” Wright said. “Could it get hot enough? Could the yeast rise and everything like that?” Would a pizza really bake in a super hot mail box? Maybe! And even if you couldn’t, it’s a fun to think about. It’s all in the name of fun. Wright wants to encourage children and people to think outside the box. Think of what’s possible, even if it doesn’t make full sense. Just for the fun of it!
Wright is a children’s book author, publishing her first book “Out Of This World Granny” this year.
Since her photos went viral, Wright has enjoyed the upsurge in attention. She’s heard from people all across the world. Complete strangers who now love the thought-provoking Granny. Though, she says, should anyone try it, it might only be practical to do so on Sunday when there’s no mail, or your mailman might get quite the surprise.
