Twitter Threatens to Sue Threads for Hiring Ex-Twitter Employees

In a move that’s not that surprising, Twitter’s law team has sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg about the new Twitter-like platform, Threads. Threads is a Twitter alternative that is connects to an Instagram account. But the problem isn’t that it’s Twitter-like by comparison. The issue seems to stem from Threads hiring multiple Twitter employees who were fired when Elon Musk took over the social media platform.

The argument is based in the belief because they’ve hired former Twitter employees, Threads must be using some insider secrets.

“Twitter has serious concerns that Meta Platforms has engaged in systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property,” X Corp, parent company for Twitter, said in a statement.

But here’s the thing, knowing Threads/Meta hired former Twitter employees makes me want to use it MORE.

These people were unfairly laid off from Twitter with zero notice after Musk took over the company. Not only that but I would expect that when they were let go or when they were hired at Twitter they all signed an NDA about talking about or using the code implemented in Twitter. I doubt anyone would have done anything to jeopardize themselves or their current workplace.

So we’ll see what happens with this as time goes on. Twitter has pretty much already shot themselves in the foot with their blue checkmark system. And the fact that those who don’t subscribe to it can only view x amount of posts per day. If you think about it it’s really stupid because you’re limiting the amount of time an individual can be on your platform and losing out on ad revenue from posts that they would have potentially seen and clicked on. But I’m no expert.
