Zack Snyder Praises “The Flash,” Announces End of Snyderverse

Zack Snyder has lauded Andy Muschietti‘s “The Flash,” calling it “the best DC movie ever.” That’s a huge compliment from someone who’s made so many films in the DCEU. Along with high praise aimed at the new film, Snyder has confirmed the end of the “Snyderverse.”

The Snyderverse encompassed Warner Bros. Pictures DC Comics films, which started with “Man of Steel,” and continued with “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Wonder Woman,” “Aquaman,” “Justice League,” and their subsequent sequels. (Even “Suicide Squad” and it’s sequel are technically in the Snyderverse.)

As we know, DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are taking the new studio in a different direction, rebooting several of the key franchises. The plan is to create a large and extended DC Universe across games, comics, animated and television series, that do not include the Snyderverse and it’s stars.

Muschietti’s “The Flash” is the second to last film officially in the Snyderverse. (The final will be “Aquaman: And the Lost Kingdom,” due out December 23rd, 2023.) It’ll star troubled actor Ezra Miller, and takes its plot from the Flashpoint storyline of DC comics, in which The Flash goes back in time to save his mother, causing a branching timeline with significant consequences. We’ll also see the return of Michael Keaton as Batman in the film, as well as the debut of Sasha Calle (“The Young and the Restless“) as Supergirl.

“The Flash” hits theaters June 16th.
