Schwarzenegger Says Jason Reitman ‘F**d Up’ “Twins” Sequel

Back in 2021, a “Twins” sequel was announced. It was confirmed Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger would be reprising their roles as a pair of brothers. Unfortunately after that announcement we didn’t hear a whole lot about it. Well, turns out the project has been cancelled. But not because the actors couldn’t do it or weren’t willing.

Schwarzenegger says director Jason Reitman is the reason it isn’t happening.

“Jason Reitman f***ed it up! Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,” Schwarzenegger told THR. Jason’s father of course was filmmaker Ivan Reitman, who directed the original “Twins” film, among others. Ivan passed away in 2022.

“His father wanted to do it really badly,” the former California Governor continued. “I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly. We had the financing. When his father passed away, Jason says, ‘I never liked the idea’ and put a hold on it.”

It’s one thing to blame someone for something not getting made but we also have to understand the circumstances. It seems that since Reitman’s father passed and that’s why he put an indefinite hold on it. This would have been right after “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” had come out. Some people are wondering if this movie would have been good at all. But there was an actual plan for the film and it sounds like it could have been pretty funny.

The sequel was to be called “Triplets” and would have starred Tracy Morgan alongside DeVito and Schwarzenegger. Morgan would have been the long-lost third brother. I don’t know about you but I find Tracy Morgan pretty dang funny and the three of them could have totally made a great movie together.

Reitman’s next project is a film based on the very first episode of NBC’s long-running sketch comedy series “Saturday Night Live,” which first aired in 1975. It’ll be based on eyewitness accounts of the legendary evening.
