Winnie the Pooh Horror Game “Hundred Acre Wood” Coming

One of the favorite things to do to something cute and cuddly is make it horrific. Winnie the Pooh became public domain in 2022, and with it, a horror adaptation. But while “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” was mediocre at best, an upcoming game from developers Rob C. Davis, Gregg Rahuba, Jared R. Bair, might be more fun. Welcome to the “Hundred Acre Wood,” a twisted interpretation of the beloved children’s book from publishers B21.

It’s always fun to make something innocent into an object of horror. The sheer amount of SpongeBob SquarePants horror games is hilarious and fascinating. But more refined titles like American McGee’s “Alice” prove that twisted children’s tales are just too fun to pass up. “Hundred Acre Wood” lands your unnamed protagonist in a mission to save Christopher Robin from the clutches of best-friend-turned-wrong Winnie the Pooh. Apparently the bear of very little brain has gone eldritch. As have other members of the wood.

According to the game page on Steam, the other members of the Hundred Acre Wood aren’t as far gone as Pooh. Though they, too, have fallen victim to becoming eldritch abominations. Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, Rabbit, and others will attempt to aid you as you’re relentlessly hunted across an open world by the chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff. Solving puzzles, platforming, and hiding will make up some of the gameplay. Played in first-person and armed with a rifle, obviously you have some form of defense.

The game has yet to set a release date and is tight-lipped on the appearance of the once cuddly characters. Though the devs promise a story-rich environment. We might come back when its released to give this one a review.
