Danny Elfman Excited to Return for “Beeltejuice 2”

The rumor mill has been a-churnin’ for years about a possible “Beetlejuice 2.” Tim Burton‘s sequel to his original ghostly hit was confirmed by Warner Bros. Pictures during CinemaCon last month. And no one is more excited about the return of the ghost with the most than composer Danny Elfman. He expressed how excited he is not only be part of the project, but just to be there to observe the process.

Elfman has always been a Burton favorite when it comes to the scores for his films. And while Danny expanded his repertoire with films like Sam Raimi‘s “Spider-Man“, and Marvel’s “Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness“, knowing he’ll be returning to score Burton’s “Beetlejuice 2” only seems right.

“I love being a fly on the wall when he’s shooting. I’ll be doing that in a couple of months, as you may know, on another Tim Burton project,” Elfman said. “That is very exciting, to return to that world.”

There’s Only One Man Who Can Be Beetlejuice

Elfman also confirmed the return of Michael Keaton as the rude wise-cracking Betelguese. He talked a bit about Keaton’s character being hidden under so much make-up, there’s likely to be little difference in appearance. This will be the second of Keaton’s iconic roles he’ll be reprising, as he donned the Batman cowl once again for “The Flash.”

“He’s not even going to look that much different. That’s the beauty of the Beetlejuice makeup. He already looked like he was 150 in the first one. It’s perfect, you know,” Elfman said. “Everybody else has to play the next generation, except for Michael. I mean, he’s still like really fit and really active and really on it. And with the Beetlejuice makeup, I can’t even imagine it’s going to look like he’s changed practically at all. So, I can’t wait for that.”

Neither can we, Danny. Neither can we.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
