Chris Sanders May Return for Live-Action “Lilo and Stitch”

One of the biggest questions we’ve had about Disney’s upcoming live action “Lilo & Stitch” adaptation is who will voice the lovable alien?! Chris Sanders, who originally voiced the character in the animated film and tv series, MAY ACTUALLY DO IT FOR THE LIVE ACTION. Back in 2022 when news of the remake hit, Sanders said no one had approached him to reprise his role…yet. But according to the usual sources, he is in final talks to return as Stitch.

There are also some familiar faces — or should we say voices — returning in the film as newly created characters. Tia Carrere, the voice of Nani in the animated film, will return as a Mrs. Kekoa. And Amy Hill, the voice of the endearingly semi-deaf and blind Mrs. Hasegawa, will return as new character Tūtū. One can’t help wonder if Daveigh Chase will make an uncredited cameo appearance.

With Sanders possibly locked in, our main cast is completed. Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sanders as Stitch, Sydney Elizabeth Adugong as big sister Nani, Kaipot Dudoit as David, and Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles. Of course, you can’t forget the iconic duo of Agent Wendy Pleakley and Dr. Jumba Jookiba, played by Zak Galifinakis and Billy Magnussen, respectively.

The live-action remake is being directed by “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”‘s Dean Fleischer Camp. Chris Kekaniokalani Bright has written this script for this adaptation. Screenplay by Mike Van Waes. And filming has begun in Hawaii. Disney seems hellbent on making live-action versions of all of their animated classics. We’re still trying to figure out why that’s necessary, but Disney’s gonna Disney we suppose.
