Nu-Metal Band Plays Show in a Subway Restaurant

How are you feeling out there tonight Subway sandwiches? Are you ready to rock?! I said, are you ready to rock?!?! Atlanta band Silly Goose decided a Subway sandwich shop was the perfect place to crank some nu-metal. Posting a video to their Instagram captioned  “POV you are trying to order at Subway and this is happening.” We see the band, instruments, and all, full-on performing to the confusion of one lone customer. The employee seems completely unfazed by what’s happening.

Food service really prepares people to see all kinds of weird stuff.

Silly Goose have made a habit out of playing odd venues. In fact, they have kind of just abandoned the concept of venues all together. Last year they erected a makeshift stage in the parking lot of the Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, OH. A stunt that scored them an interview with Danny Wimmer Presents and a spot on a “real” stage at the Louder Than Life Festival.

Silly Goose has also toured the country, following bands such as Highly Suspect and Spiritbox. Where they just set up outside the venues, and play a gig while the show lets out. There are also comments claiming they have seen the band play shows in parking lots after concerts from Ghost and Rob Zombie.

But Silly Goose are far from the only band that plays unconventional venues. In January 2022, punk bands False Flag and Surprise Privilege put on a guerilla-style show on a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train. The show was shut down due to a door being blocked, which posed a safety risk.

Modern technology has drastically lowered the barriers to entry for indie bands to get their music out there. The issue is, now it’s harder than ever to stand out from everyone else. Shows like this are an effective way of gaining attention, while bypassing the hassle of trying to find venues.

You can see where Silly Goose is performing next on their Instagram page. You can check out their interview with Danny Wimmer Presents below:
