Hugh Jackman Drops Major “Deadpool 3” Wolverine News

Science fiction has long used the concept of a duplicate to add intrigue to its stories. Cloning, time travel, and parallel universes have made it easier for multiple versions of characters to appear. The concept of the multiverse has become a popular trope in films and TV shows like “Loki“, “The Flash,” “Spider-Man,” The CW’s Arrowverse, and “Doctor Strange.” Marvel Studios projects have adopted the word ‘variant’ to describe the alternate versions of their characters. While some may view the multiverse as a lazy screenwriting tool, it provides a convenient way for productions to introduce different versions of characters, much like the comics that inspired them.

Speaking of variants, it seems like Wolverine will be getting in on the action. Hugh Jackman is returning as the X-Men character for the upcoming film “Deadpool 3.” With Jackman’s talent and the endless possibilities of the multiverse, there’s no telling what shenanigans are in store for us. In a recent interview, the Aussie actor let slip a major bit of news- he’ll be playing a ‘double role.’ He played a double of himself in the audience and critically acclaimed “Logan,” so this should be a smooth ride.

When asked if he was going to be resuming his role of Wolverine in Deadpool 3, Jack man responded “yes, it will even be a double role.” He went on to confirm filming for the project will take place this summer. “That’s why I’m so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to enjoy French gastronomy,” Jackman told French publication Le Parisien. “Because very soon, I will have to go on a strict diet to remake Wolverine’s body: steamed chicken and broccoli!”

Reynolds, the star of the “Deadpool” franchise, caused quite a stir back in 2022. He shared a teaser about the upcoming third installment, confirming Jackman’s Wolverine return, and the character’s official introduction to the MCU. Fans were left wondering what was in store for the notoriously foul-mouthed and violent character. Concerns arose among fans that Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox might stifle Deadpool’s trademark humor, violence, and risky jokes. Director Shawn Levy promised to take full advantage of an R-rating.

As the release of “Deadpool 3” draws near, fans will undoubtedly be on the edge of their seats, hoping that the film will live up to the high standards set by its predecessors. Will Disney’s influence be felt in the franchise’s third outing, or will Deadpool be able to maintain his unapologetically crude and violent persona?

“Deadpool 3” is currently slated to hit theaters November 8th, 2024.
