This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced their official list of Golden Globes nominees for 2023. There were some expected noms, surprises, and the usual honorees. But for the second year in a row, not a single woman director.

There is of course a lot we can say about that little factoid, but it really speaks volumes on its own. Considering the continual controversies from the HFPA, we guess this isn’t surprising.

We’re really not surprised to see the great Angela Bassett get a nod for her deeply emotional turn in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The buzz in tinsel town is she may even see an Oscar nomination for it as well. “The Banshees ofInisherin” actually led the pack, with 8 nominations. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” followed with 6.

The 80th annual Golden Globes ceremony will be held January 10th. Comedian Jerrod Carmichael will host, and it’ll air on ABC. You can read the full list of nominees here, and some of the key nominations below.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Though she be but little, she is fierce.
