With Harry Potter and the Cursed Child now on stage in Edinburgh, fans of the series will no doubt be searching for clues and locations from the books and movies. Here are five places to look for Harry Potter in Edinburgh! Edinburgh Castle – One of the first places Harry visits in the series is Edinburgh castle, where he meets Professor Dumbledore. The castle features several scenes from the films and is a popular tourist destination.

Scottish National Gallery – Another location that features prominently in both the books and films is The Scottish National Gallery, which Harry visits on his way to meet Albus Dumbledore at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

St Giles Cathedral – Another place harry spends time in during his travels around Scotland is St Giles Cathedral, where he attends a funeral service for Sirius Black

    Visit Victoria Street

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, Edinburgh is the place to be! Victoria Street is home to many shops and restaurants dedicated to the fan community. You can also find theatres showing the latest Harry Potter movies. The Three Broomsticks or Hog’s Head pub are great options if you’re looking for a place to eat. Finally, don’t forget to visit Platform 9 3/4 – it’s located on Princes Street! Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a fan of the series, Edinburgh is worth a visit!

    2. Visit Waverley Abbey

Not only is the abbey a beautiful place to visit, but it’s also home to The Quidditch World Cup Trophy. If you’re a Harry Potter and wizardry fan, check out this iconic Edinburgh site!

    3. Take a stroll down Princes Street Gardens

If you want peace in Edinburgh, take a stroll down Princes Street Gardens! This shady alley is perfect for winding through on your way to one of the city’s many attractions. When looking for Harry Potter locations in Edinburgh,

    Admire the Balmoral Hotel

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, there’s no better place to be than Edinburgh! The city is home to several Harry Potter references, including the Balmoral Hotel, which features a replica of the Deathly Hallows – the mystical sword that was used in the movies. Plus, Princes Street was home to several shops and restaurants that Dumbledore and Ron Weasley frequented. If you’re looking for something to buy, stop by Hogwart’s Little Shop of Horrors for souvenirs or treats (like Butterbeer!). And, of course, there’s no better way to end your trip than by admiring the Balmoral Hotel from a distance!

    Former Rowling Residences

Harry Potter fans rejoice! The 8. Former Rowling Residences is a beautiful property that was used as the home of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. You can explore the house and its gardens during guided tours, or wander around on your own. If you’re a fan of witches and wizards, be sure to visit! There are also plenty of other attractions in Edinburgh worth checking out, like Murrayfield Stadium and The Royal Mile. So what are you waiting for? Book your reservation today and prepare to journey back in time to a world of wizardry!

    George Heriot’s School

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, you will want to take advantage of George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh. This well-known school is the perfect place to get a glimpse of the series’ iconic locations. You can explore the school’s interactive exhibits, which take you on an immersive experience of the novels. There’s also a chance to visit the hidden passages and classrooms that were used in filming scenes for the movies! If you require more, take advantage of the chance to meet JK Rowling herself! She’ll be appearing at the school’s graduation ceremony this year. Don’t pass up the chance to meet one of your childhood heroes!

    Alnwick Castle

If you’re a fan of Harry Potter, Alnwick Castle is the place to be. It’s the site of Dumbledore’s tomb and the Half-Blood Prince Scavenger Hunt, and has a number of rooms used in filming. Remember to check out Edinburgh while you’re there! There are also plenty of other attractions to see, like Portobello Market and Princes Street Gardens. Edinburgh Zoo If you’re looking for a fun and educational day out, visit Edinburgh Zoo. This world-renowned zoo is home to more than 9,000 animals from around the world, and offers a variety of activities like elephant walks and bird feedings. You can also see the monkeys that were used in the series’ famous Pensieve scene! If you’ve got kids at heart, don’t miss out on the chance to tour Gorilla Forest – they’ll love it!

    Conclusion

Whether you’re a fan of Harry Potter or not, there’s no denying that Edinburgh is a fantastic place to visit. While in the city, check out some of the locations listed above where you can find Harry Potter memorabilia. From Victoria Street to Alnwick Castle, there’s a spot for you!
